This past spring, the RMACT board actively recruited our first members from the states of Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Please welcome our new members from the first three states. If you know of someone in South Dakota that would have an interest in a complimentary membership to ACT, please let you notify the ACT Board. Sloan Dawson (Nebraska)Sloan recently joined the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) as a transportation and land use planner. His portfolio of responsibilities encompasses the agency’s carpool program, Metro RideShare, as well as transit, bicycle-pedestrian, and land use planning. When he’s not promoting carpooling or battling for bike-ped and transit project funding, Sloan enjoys playing tennis, writing, and engaging in micro urban design projects. Sloan holds a Master in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is pleased to be back in his hometown to make a contribution to its form and development. (About MAPACOG) Michael Wackerly (Wyoming)Michael Wackerly was born and raised in Canton Ohio. He graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He has worked in transportation for over thirty five years. He has been the director for the START Bus in Jackson Hole, Wyoming since September of 2002 Michael worked the preceding 25 years as the director of the Richland County Transit Board in Mansfield Ohio. Mr Wackerly is a registered professional engineer and served as president of the Ohio Public Transit Association from 1995 to 1997. He has two grown sons. (Teton County Public Bus Service - START Bus) Katie White (North Dakota)Katie White is a Planner at the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (Metro COG). As the region’s MPO, Metro COG coordinates transportation planning with the cities and counties in the Fargo area for everything from bicycles to bridges. Fargo is North Dakota’s largest city and is rapidly growing. Katie has a master’s degree in transportation planning from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Prior to arriving at Metro COG she worked for the City of Minneapolis. |
